Booking your Vacation - How does it work?

We at Escaped to Latin America work to provide you with the perfect vacation to our favorite continent. We have all lived, worked and travelled here and so have the knowledge and experience to create the right itinerary for you.

Next steps…

After contacting us one of our dedicated consultants will help you formulate the perfect vacation itinerary for you.

We will need to know which countries or areas you would like to visit and for how long. How many of you will be travelling and the type and standard of accommodation you prefer? What are your interests…archeology, culture, wildlife, history, markets, scenery, walking or trekking?

Don´t worry if you are not sure about your plans - our consultants will be happy to offer advice and suggestions to help. If the person you are speaking to hasn´t visited the area you are interested in, you can be sure the person on the next desk has!

Once you have been provided with an initial proposal itinerary, you and your consultant can work together to make any alterations or additions until it meets your needs precisely.

Our tours generally include all flights within South America, hotels, transfers, transport and excursions. Tours may be private or shared but always with a professional guide. Breakfast is normally included and sometimes other meals.

Making a booking…

Once you have decided on the right itinerary we will require an initial deposit in order to get your plans underway. This is normally about 20-25% of the total tour value depending on the specific details of your itinerary. We have four ways for you to pay. Please see our Payment Options page for more information.

In addition to a deposit we will also require your international flight details (airline, flight number, times & dates) in order to co-ordinate services, copies of your passport data/photo pages (this is to avoid sales tax in many countries, and also to allow us to book flights, cruises and other services such as train tickets and the Inca Trail).

Do also let us know if you have any special dietary requirements, and any other relevant information or requests.

Once we have received your deposit and passenger information we will commence with all your arrangements and provide you with a formal receipt of payment / booking which you can use to obtain Travel Insurance for your trip.

Confirmation…

Within a few days of booking we will email you with a confirmed itinerary. This normally takes around 5-7 days but depends on the season and complexity of your tour. This will show all arrangements as confirmed. This will normally match your original proposed itinerary but may include some small changes. If for example a certain hotel is unavailable at the time of booking we will reserve another of similar style, standard and price so the changes are likely to be minimal.

Pre-departure information…

In addition to the general information we provide with all our itineraries we will also provide you with a pre-departure Briefing Dossier after booking. This contains lots of useful information on travel to Latin America from Packing and What to Take, Security, Money, Health, Communications, Flights, Documents and a number of other matters.

Final Travel Document…

About two weeks before you depart on your vacation we will send you a Final Travel Document by email. This is to accompany your Confirmed Itinerary with the descriptions of your hotels and tours. Your Final Travel Document will include hotel telephone numbers and addresses, other contact telephone numbers, any domestic flight details / electronic tickets, a detailed itinerary with collection times and lots more useful information regarding your vacation.

Once away…

Once you depart on your vacation you will have all the information you require. When you arrive you will be met and taken care of by our guides and transfer drivers who will do their best to ensure all runs smoothly. You will also have the assurance of several contact telephone numbers covering each location and a 24 hour emergency telephone number.
