The itinerary that was made for us to include all of the areas that we wanted to visit was excellent, you did a great job in fitting a lot into a 3 week period....... There was no one stand out highlight of our trip as we enjoyed every place we visited and they were all individually exciting and quite different. If we had to pick one it would be a toss up between Easter Island and Machu Picchu. Thank you for all of the organization that went into our trip, we did not have to worry about any aspect other than to turn up at the allotted time and someone would look after every detail for us.
Many Thanks
This Argentina and Chile combination vacation provides a great introduction to the northern Patagonia region. This area is not as well know as southern Patagonia but is simply beautiful with its mountains, lakes and adventures. This tour starts in Bariloche and ends in Temuco.
After your arrival at Bariloche Airport (most likely from Buenos Aires), we will meet and transfer you to your hotel which is situated on the shores of the Nahuel Huapi Lake. Your hotel, which could be the Aldebaran Hotel or similar, is situated a few kilometers from Bariloche and is surrounded by some of the area´s most spectacular scenery. At the hotel, you will meet your guide and have a brief introductory meeting, before spending the afternoon at your leisure in the beautiful surroundings of Bariloche.
Today you will take a chairlift ride to the top of the Mount Campanario where you will be able to view the magnificent region of northern Patagonia from a spectacular viewpoint. We will then make our way to the Pampa Linda Lodge, situated at the base of Mount Tronador, and stop off along the journey on the shores of the incredible Gutierrez and Mascardi Lakes. You will enjoy a delicious lunch at the lodge before we take a horse ride to the black glacier ¨Ventisquero Negro¨, where exceptional views of the Tronador´s upper and lower glaciers await us. Overnight at the lodge.
Enjoy a hearty breakfast at the lodge before we head out to the Castaño River. Here we will cross over the bridge and ascend through the forests of Cohihue trees as we make our way to the picturesque Morenkoff Ridge. Once there, we will hike to see the Tronador´s ice fields where the views of the Castaño Overa and Alerces Glaciers are truly spectacular. We will then descend and head back to the lodge for a relaxing evening and dinner at your leisure.
After you wake up early you will prepare yourself for a day of mountain biking and sightseeing. We will drive to a small village two hours from Bariloche, Villa La Angostura. The village is situated on the shores of the lovely, dramatic Nahuel Huapi Lake, which is also the largest lake in the region. After lunch in the local village we will board a boat with our bikes and cross the lakes to the Quetrihue Peninsula. Once there, we will cycle our way back through the breathtaking Arrayanes National Forest. Overnight in your comfortable hotel which could be the beautiful Correntoso Hotel.
Enjoy a full breakfast to prepare for today´s adventures from the Cordoba Pass. In the morning we will make the drive to the top of the pass and then make our way down through the fascinating rock formations as we head towards the isolated Caleufú River by mountain bike. After a lovely picnic by the river we will cycle the remaining kilometers on the Seven Lakes road towards the nice town of San Martin de los Andes. We will stay overnight either in the town itself or nearby, there are several hotel options to choose from such as the Rio Hermoso Hotel or the Plaza Mayor.

Wake up and enjoy the morning at your leisure before boarding a boat to Quila Quina. This quaint hamlet is situated by the Lacar Lake and belongs to the Mapuches who are the native tribe in the area. We will then hike through the region and take pleasure in the magnificent sights of the peaks and lakes before settling in a cozy mountain cabin where we will sample some outstanding Argentinean wines.
Today we will drive across the Andes and pass by the base of the Lanin Volcano which towers to an impressive 3,747m above sea level. We will stop for a picnic lunch in the large forest of Araucarias or ¨monkey puzzle trees¨ before making our way across the border into Chile. Once in Chile, we will take our bikes for a ride through an outstandingly beautiful region, surrounded by volcanoes, towards the town of Pucón where we will spend the night at the Malalhue Hotel or similar.
Today has an active theme of white water rafting as we head down the Bajo Trancura River close to the charming town of Pucón. After the morning´s activities you will be able to spend the day at your leisure in the town, or take another activity such as mountain biking. To recover in the evening its out for dinner in the town, and then a good nights sleep at your hotel.
Enjoy your last breakfast before heading to the small regional Temuco airport to board your short flight to Santiago where you will catch your international flight home or maybe join one of our other tours.
